Afyonkarahisar Forestry, the Ministry of Nature Protection and the Directorate of National Parks of Turkey have designed the “bird nest tile”.
Bird houses in the city are already beginning to be seen on some rooftops in Turkey; it is expected that their use will begin to become widespread in the coming months.
The Regional Director of National Protection and National Parks, Mahmut Temel, presented the “bird house in the form of roof tiles” project, which will be tested for the first time in the country.
Temel presented the “Tile Birdhouse”, whose BTC Number Data mass production is already carried out in a company in Çorum, as well as the cat houses made by Mehmet Usta.
They claim that the first production of these nest tiles, which was designed by a Dutch designer, was put into production in a factory in Çorum, and that these tiles can replace broken tiles on any roof of a house, or simply replace a tile with other.
First of all, a Dutch designer did this work, designed it according to the houses in his region and put it on the internet. It sold for euros. We redesigned it according to the conditions in Turkey, with widely used Marseille tiles. We produce it for a very small price. Some tests were carried out on the roofs of the tile project, which has been under construction for about years with a company in Çorum. We'll be keeping track of the shingles we've put on the roofs for a while. We will observe the use by birds.

According to forecasts, they will produce and distribute it for free. In this way, they want to make fashionable in a more modern and practical way the tradition of building bird houses in our homes, so present in the Seljuk and Ottoman cultures.
According to the authorities, this project is unique in the world.
This is the idea of Dutch designer Klaas Kuiken. He has created a birdhouse that fits perfectly on the clay tiles traditionally used on roofs. With this structure, it provides shelter and brings the urban bird population closer to the human population.
Birdhouse Rooftile
The Dutch designer, Klaas Kuiken, also has his Birdhouse Rooftile project. The design was made taking into account that roofs are already common options for several species of birds for their nests.
With a small circular 'door', these houses provide a safe haven for birds, offering good ventilation and protection from domestic animals, such as cats.

For the project, the designer collaborated with Vogelbescherming Nederland, a Dutch organization for the protection of birds. The shelter is made of a molded wooden plate with a screen that protects the birds from direct contact with the roof. In other words, there is no risk of the chicks falling from heights and, when it rains, they are still protected from possible flooding. In addition, they are made with special materials that also protect against a possible increase in temperature. A special glue that resists extreme temperatures fixes the birdhouse to the tile.
